Major construction nearby doesn’t just affect traffic and noise, it can also stir up pest activity in surrounding homes and businesses.
Displaced rodents tend to believe your roof is an excellent backup accommodation plan, and in new homes, builders tend to attach the wall insulation and roof well before the outer brick skin, so you're highly likely to have a mouse infestation to greet you as soon as you move in, as we've seen at East Pakenham recently.
When land is cleared or buildings demolished, particularly rodents, but also ants, spiders, and other pests are forced to relocate. Unfortunately, nearby new homes, new factories or commercial builds often become the closest available shelter.
